Get to Know the Father Who Runs

In Luke 15, Jesus tells the story of a son who walked away from home, wasted what he had, and found himself broken, empty, and ashamed.

When he finally came to himself, he decided to go back home. He didn’t expect to be treated like a son anymore. He just hoped his father might let him come back as a servant.

But before the son ever reached the house, his father saw him.

And then the Bible says something beautiful: the father ran to him.

That one detail says so much about the heart of God. The father didn’t stand on the porch with crossed arms. He didn’t wait for a speech. He didn’t lead with shame. He ran with compassion, wrapped his arms around his son, and welcomed him home.

That is the picture Jesus gives us of our Heavenly Father.

Maybe you’ve wandered. Maybe you’ve made choices you regret. Maybe you feel like you’ve gone too far or stayed away too long. But the Father’s heart is not to push you away. His heart is to bring you home.

Grace doesn’t excuse our sin, but it does remind us that God is full of mercy. When we turn back to Him, we don’t find a cold shoulder—we find open arms.

The Father is still watching, still loving, and still ready to welcome you home.
