Wedding Vows: More Than Words

Wedding vows are some of the most meaningful words we’ll ever speak. They’re not just promises made on a beautiful day—they’re commitments meant for everyday life. When we say “for better or worse, for richer or poorer,” we’re really saying, “I choose you, even when it’s hard.”
Scripture reminds us what those vows are meant to look like in real life:
“Love is patient, love is kind… It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” (1 Corinthians 13:4–7)
That kind of love doesn’t come from feelings alone—it’s built on faithfulness, forgiveness, and God’s grace at work in us. Jesus echoed this when He said,
“What God has joined together, let no one separate.” (Mark 10:9)
Marriage isn’t about perfection; it’s about perseverance. It’s two imperfect people learning to love each other the way Christ loves us—sacrificially, faithfully, and with grace. When vows are rooted in God, they become more than words spoken once; they become a daily act of worship.
If you’re married, let this be a reminder to revisit those vows with prayer and humility. If you’re preparing for marriage, remember that God desires to be at the center of your commitment.
We’d love to walk alongside you in faith, marriage, and community. Join us for worship this Sunday at 11am at New Hope Baptist Church in Tunnel Hill. There’s a place for you here, and we’d be honored to welcome you.
