You Belong

“For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.” — Romans 8:14

Romans 8:14–17 gives us one of the most comforting truths in the Bible: when we belong to Christ, we are not just forgiven—we are adopted into God’s family.

That means we don’t have to live like spiritual outsiders. We don’t have to approach God with fear, wondering if He really wants us near. Through Jesus, we have been brought close. We are His children.

Paul says we have received “the Spirit of adoption,” and by Him we cry, “Abba, Father.” That word carries the idea of closeness, trust, and love. God is not distant. He is not cold. He is not waiting for us to earn our place at the table. In Christ, He has already made room for us.

And because we are children, we are also heirs. That means our hope is not based on what this world can give us or take from us. Our future is secure in Christ.

There may be days when you feel forgotten, unworthy, or alone. But Romans 8 reminds us of who we are: loved, adopted, led by the Spirit, and held by the Father.

You don’t have to wonder where you belong. In Jesus, you belong to God.

We would love for you to join us this Sunday at New Hope Baptist Church in Tunnel Hill. Worship begins at 11:00 AM, and there’s a place for you here.
