Lord, Remember Me

God, in His sovereign wisdom, appointed Samson as a deliverer for His people, Israel (Judges 13:5). From before his birth, Samson was set apart for a holy purpose. The Spirit of the Lord moved mightily upon him, confirming his divine calling and empowering him with extraordinary strength. Yet, though Samson was called and anointed, his heart strayed from the One who called him.

Like many of us, Samson knew the power of God, but he chose to walk according to the desires of his flesh rather than the leading of the Spirit. Instead of seeking intimacy with the Lord, he pursued what pleased his eyes—foreign women and worldly pleasures. He lived by sight, not by faith, and this path led to spiritual blindness long before he was physically blinded by his enemies.

Samson’s strength could conquer armies, but he could not conquer himself. His unchecked desires drew him away from God's purpose and into the hands of those who sought his destruction. Yet even in his darkest moment—blinded, chained, and mocked—God’s mercy was not far. Broken and humbled, Samson turned his heart back to the Lord, and in his final breath, he cried out to God.

And God, ever faithful, heard him.

May we learn from Samson’s story: to treasure our calling, to walk by faith and not by sight, and to surrender our desires daily to the One who calls us. For even when we fall, God’s grace can restore, and His power is made perfect in our weakness.
