New Series: Strong Man Samson

Samson’s life is a striking example of how divine gifting does not guarantee godly living. Though his strength was a supernatural gift from God, his decisions were often driven by personal desires, impulses, and emotional reactions. He pursued what pleased him rather than what honored God—whether in his relationships, his vengeance, or his pride. Yet even in his failures, God’s purposes were not thwarted. Samson’s story reflects the ongoing human struggle to live in alignment with God’s will while wrestling with internal weaknesses. It reminds us that spiritual power must be matched with spiritual discipline, and that God can work even through flawed vessels—but He calls us to more.

Judges 16:28 – “Then Samson called to the Lord and said, ‘O Lord God, please remember me and please strengthen me only this once, O God…’”

This final prayer of Samson—offered in brokenness and humility—shows a moment of clarity and dependence on God, not himself.

Lord, I thank You for the gifts and strength You’ve placed in me. But I confess that I often let my desires lead me instead of seeking Your will. Teach me to walk in humility and obedience. Use my strengths for Your glory, not my own. And when I fail, remind me that Your grace is greater still. Make me strong not just in ability, but in character and surrender. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
